I was a bit nervous about flying into Tangier instead of Marrakech but it ended up being such a great decision. I booked a private tour that did a Tangier to marrakech tour 8 days and honestly it was the perfect pace. We started with a day in Tangier (which was way more chill and interesting than I expected), then headed to Chefchaouen which was absolutely gorgeous, spent a couple days in Fes, did the desert trip with a night in Merzouga, and then worked our way down through the Dades Valley and finally to Marrakech. Going this direction meant we ended with the hustle of Marrakech which felt like a nice contrast after all the mountains and desert. A few random tips if anyone's planning similar: bring good motion sickness meds for the drive into the desert (those roads are winding!), and definitely book a guide in Fes unless you're really confident with navigation.
