Consumer electronics retailer Best Buy, through its "Geek Squad" service component, offers a variety of protection plans for items purchased in-store or online. Whether for a one-time charge at the time of purchase or a recurring monthly charge, a “Geek Squad Protection Plan” (or “GSP Plan”) covers eligible repairs and, under certain conditions, even replacement of cell phones, computers, washers, dryers and other appliances. Although not widely advertised by Geek Squad or Best Buy, the fine print of your protection plan contract clearly states that you can cancel service at any time, for any reason, and receive a prorated refund.[1] However, following the proper steps will make the process much easier.
