If you are the person who is interested to know about a different culture and want to explore history so there is no better country than India to experience all this activities and history. India is the country of mixture of different cultures and have very historic cities which have it own history.
One of the most Important City is Gwalior. Gwalior is best known for its imposing hilltop fort, which was famously described as ‘the pearl amongst fortresses in India’. Historically, the city has been the cradle of a number of dynasties that ruled it over the years. Their influence is clearly seen in the many regal structures that dominate the cityscape. In a sense, Gwalior continues to retain a medieval majesty.
Gwalior holds an unparalleled reputation in Sangeet, and has retained Indian traditions and the wealth of music intact over the years. The Gwalior Gharana is one of the oldest Khayal Gharanas and the one to which most classical Indian musicians can trace the origin of their style. Legendary musicians like Tansen and Baiju Bawara belonged to Gwalior.
Gwalior, an ancient city that dates back to the 6th century has been a work in progress over time: its foundations were laid by the Naad dynasty, and were enhanced by several royal Hindu clans. During the British colonial period in India, it saw the unrest between Central India’s princely states, and emerged as a significant economic hub today. Today, the city nestles in the shadow of the Gwalior Fort – a majestic stone structure set upon a hillside carved with rock carving of Mahavira, the founder of Jainism dating to the 15th Century. With one of the oldest learning centers of Indian classical music, it bears a profound musical heritage as also celebrates an annual Tansen Music Festival in honour of Mian Tansen, the musician – poet, one of the jewels in the courts of the Mughal emperor, Akbar.
